Winter in Sioux Lookout

The stark winter beauty of Northern Ontario is at times foreboding, but visitors and residents alike in Sioux Lookout have learned to embrace winter and not hide from it. The brilliance of the crystal white snow on a radiant sunlit day, the lonely howl of the timber wolf on a moonlit night....these are experiences available to visitors in our area.

Whether you travel by snow machine, dogsled or skis there are thousands of uninhabited lakes and trails to explore. At the end of an active day, nothing can match the experience of a steaming cup of hot chocolate in front of a roaring fire, especially in your own private log cabin.

For snowmobilers there are hundreds of miles of groomed trails that connect Sioux Lookout with northwestern Ontario Communities. Branches of these connecting trails link with snowmobile trail networks throughout Ontario, Manitoba and Minnesota. There is a wide variety of winter accommodations from full service hotels to log cabins. The Ojibway Power Toboggan Club has a modern clubhouse and a variety of scheduled events including poker derbies, potluck dinners and family days; and welcome all snowmobilers to join them.

Sioux Lookout would like to extend this invitation to everyone to come and enjoy all that we have to offer.
